“We didn’t build the districts to keep any council members’ jobs,” Allebach said. “We built this according to the wishes of the voters.” Allebach hopes district elections will encourage new blood on the council, and new interest in political office. Now when Jeff said this in an interview there was no election being contested. When Jeff said this he probably didn’t mean he wanted new blood on the council this soon. But maybe I’m wrong and he agrees with me.
I agree that new blood and political interest is just what we need in Orange City. Bill Crippen, Gina Holmes and Anthony Pupello represent new blood and have a keen interest in the future of Orange City.
Bill Crippen brings, government experience, small business experience and a love of his native west Volusia. His vision of a future of participation of citizens and businesses to live out the idea that Orange City is a place of small town ambience and world class opportunity. Orange City can be a place where business is welcome, taxes are reasonable, the water bill is not a monthly worry, and the garbage fee is not on your taxes.
Gina Holmes knows that Orange City is the heart of southwest Volusia. She brings her heart and mind to the challenge of a future where having affordable taxes, water service and garbage bills is a reality for all residents. Participation by the people of District five is a vital way of solving the problems facing the city.
Anthony Pupello is in business in Orange City so he knows the importance of you being heard and getting you involved in the future’s direction. Responding to the people’s needs and listening to their advice could go a long way to fixing the garbage fee, higher tax rates and addressing the water problems.
I think these people are new blood. My grandmother loved to use the phrase “a new broom sweeps clean”. So I’ve made my choice. I choose new brooms for along with all the problems that need to be addressed, they will be really important in helping to pick the new city manager. I agree we need new blood on the council.
Keep promoting your choices for Council as you have in the past. Your previous choices included Tom Abraham, Tom Laputka and Mayor Strickland. All of these folks have voted for higher taxes, taxes on the gas franchise, a higher millage rate, garbage fees on the tax roll, and increased water fees. Obviously your recommendation of candidates is based on dislike of the opposition rather than good judgement as to who will best serve the citizens of Orange City. I for one respect a man like Paul Rasch who will “tell it like it is” and be truthfull than to listen to some of the folks you have endorsed promise one thing and than act differently when it comes time to make decisions.

Orange City
So if I work to get a candidate elected and they don’t vote the way I want then I can’t work of other candidates who agree with me that taxes should be cut, garbage contracts should be renegotiated, and there needs to be a different system of setting the water rates.
Garbage was done by Allebach, mahoney, Sherrill, Storke, Yebba and Irwin. It contains a tap clause that makes it irrevocable. So, it has to be renegoitate in 2010.
Tax rates are the roll back and I would have preferred last years rate of 4.48, but Chester wanted it. Mr. Rasch voted for it and he’s the one running.
Paul Rasch is less than honorable and tells little the way it is. He used one persons name without permission and has yet to call her.
The shock on my part is that Frank Justice can’t vote because he is not of the voters roll.
Why the shock? I am sure I am not the only “snow bird” living in Orange City. It makes it even more important to me that people are aware of the truth. I have to work extra hard to get other people to do my voting for me much as you attempt to do. You see you and I are much alike in that regard but I believe the city should be moving forward with a positive approach to it’s business and policies. The negative attacks you make on the city manager and certain council members do little to improve the city especially when other council members you have supported voted to approve the hiring of Mr. Murray and endorsed the policies you so much abhor.
