As I was wandering the aisles of the electronics department in the Orange City Target, I did my usual window shopping — looking at the latest video games which have been discounted to $20, examining the digital cameras and camcorders on display, seeing if there were any crazy discounts on SD cards, and checking the prices on cellular phones from prepaid carriers like Virgin Mobile, Boost Mobile and AT&T Go phone. In the cellular phone section I found a device I had never seen before. Typically if there is a new, shiny, battery-powered thingy I’ve either read about it or seen advertising for it. I hadn’t seen anything quite like it. It was like a larger version of the third-generation iPod Nano with a keyboard instead of a dial. There was a red one, a cyan one and a black one. My interested was piqued which is appropriate as the device was labeled Peek. Read the rest of this entry »

Software I Use at Home
April 17th, 2009 by michaelI apologize for taking longer than usual to post. I’ve been up to my ears in some freelance design work. Buying a Point-and-Shoot Camera? Part Three
March 25th, 2009 by michaelPart 3: All-in-One?
When wandering the aisles looking for a point-and-shoot camera, you may be tempted by the all-in-one media devices promising video recording, still image capture, audio recording, MP3 playback, video input recording and can connect to a TV for additional playback. Like a Swiss Army knife, an all-in-one device can do everything it promises, but like a Swiss Army knife using a one-purpose device produces better results. Really have you tried using the wood saw on a Swiss Army knife?
More Apple. Tiny, Bite-Sized and Talks!
March 11th, 2009 by michaelIt’s deadline day and I just found out there is a new iPod Shuffle, Apple’s lower cost MP3 player. It has no screen, buuuuuuut it speaks the title and artist of the song playing and bears a striking resemblance to a tiny cigarette lighter. It has a 4GB capacity, or about 1000 songs and price tag of $79.00 USD.
Check it out for your self: www.apple.com/ipodshuffle

March 3rd, 2009 by michaelHappy Digital Television Day!
February 17th, 2009 by michaelToday, February 17, 2009, was the original digital television transition day. Television broadcasters were to cease broadcasting over-the-air television as analog signals and start broadcasting as digital signals. Thanks to Congress, stations have until June 12, 2009, to switch. When the switch happens, if you are using an antenna to receive your signal, you are not using a digital converter box AND your television was manufactured before March 1, 2007, you will probably get only static or a screen with a phone number to call to answer the question “what’s wrong with my tv?” Read the rest of this entry »
