A resident of Volusia County for more than 62 years, Gordon Currie lives in Ormond Beach and works as a sales representative for Consolidated Electrical District in Daytona Beach.
He has been married for more than 54 years, and has four children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Currie retired as a sergeant major from the U.S. Army Florida National Guard after 38 years.
For more than 50 years, Currie has served in various positions of leadership on more than 20 boards, committees, regulatory agencies and other organizations in Volusia County. He served as mayor of the City of Holly Hill for four years, and six years as a councilman for Holly Hill.
Currie is a past chairman of the Volusia Soil and Water Conservation District board, and he was on the board for seven years.
Other governmental bodies Currie has served on include: Volusia County Planning Board, Volusia County Growth Management Commission, Metropolitan Planning Organization, Vision 2000 Committee, Volusia League of Municipalities, Volusia Council of Governments, Ormond Beach Airport Advisory Committee, the committee regulating bridge openings in the Halifax area, Ormond Beach City Manager Search Committee, and the Advisory Committee on Fiscal Policy and Productivity.
