John D. Adams has lived in Deltona with his wife of 24 years, Jeannette, since 1996. He has four children, three of whom live in New Smyrna Beach, one of whom lives in Clearwater, and four grandchildren.
Adams worked as a traffic enforcement operations consultant for the Orange County Sheriff's Office for 26 years, and has also worked as a banker and stockbroker.
He served in the U.S. Navy 1944-50 and was awarded a Purple Heart.
Adams received a bachelor's of business administration from Iona College in New Rochelle, N.Y.
He currently serves in Seat 1 n the West Volusia Hospital Authority Seat, and he also serves on the Deltona Fire Department Pension Board.
Adams has previously served on the Hospital Advisory Commission, and on the West Volusia Hospital Authority, as chairman and vice chairman.
Other government bodies and organizations he has served with include: Kenneth City Council, Kenneth City Homeowners Association, Northwest Little League of St. Petersburg, Kenneth City Fire Department, the International Police Association, the Allied Airborne Association, Junior Achievement Club of Pinellas County, Citizen Advisory Committee-West Volusia Hospital Authority, and Men's Club of Deltona United Church of Christ, and he has been a Rotarian for 30 years,
Adams is a member of United Church of Christ, and is involved with the Volusia League of Municipalities.

Accomplishment of which you are most proud: In 2003 I received the Bell Helicopter Robert Cormier award for outstanding Law Enforcement Professional in the field of aviation.
Public-service goal you have yet to achieve: Getting re-elected so I can continue with what I've done with the authority for the last four years.
