The 17th annual Murray Miller/City of DeLand Recreation Department Youth Golf Tournament went into the books last week at Southridge Golf Course.
This year, there were 24 golfers playing in seven divisions, with trophies presented by Miller after pizza and drinks, following the action.
There were only two girls in the tournament, and Miller urged the parents of those on hand to bring their children to the golf course whenever possible. He gave a little history of the event, which has been the stepping stone for both boy and girl golfers to help land a collegiate scholarship.
Boys 17 and Under - Robert Dean carded a 77 to claim the championship, with Taylor Simmons the runner-up. Following were Devin Cowart, Taylor White, Andy Urchuck, Seth Scott and Austin Warensford.
