The 2009 high-school football season has closed out for some teams, others may have a game remaining this week, while others have their sights set on the playoff trail that leads to the Florida State Championships, which will be decided next month in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.
Regardless of Friday night’s outcome between the DeLand Bulldogs and the Daytona Beach Mainland Bucs, the ’Dogs will be idle this Friday, the 13th, with their open date. The Bucs will be facing the Daytona Beach Seabreeze SandCrabs this Friday.
Both the ’Dogs and Bucs will advance to the playoffs beginning Nov. 20, with the victors at home, and the losers on the road.
Friday night, the Taylor Wildcats close out ’09 with a biggie on their Swanson Field, with the annual Taylor Sports Hall of Fame game, with the Mount Dora Bible School gridders in town for the 7 p.m. kickoff.
The Deltona Wolves will be on the road Friday, as will the Pine Ridge Panthers, as they make their respective trips to the South Lake and Space Coast.
That leaves the Deltona Trinity Christian Eagles as the lone home team in their area, as they entertain Southwest Florida Academy with a 7 p.m. kickoff, probably on the Dewey O. Boster Sports Complex field.
Also, to close out at home, and probably in Spec Martin Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m., will be the Lighthouse Christian Crusaders, with the Orlando Lutheran Academy team invading the area.
