DeLand has a plateful of amazing local eateries. On Saturday, 26 of those restaurants will gather in one place for A Taste of DeLand.
The MainStreet DeLand Association sponsors the event each year. This year’s date is Jan. 23.
Volunteer Janet Dixon said the event is bigger and better than ever.
“We have more vendors than we did last year,” Dixon said. “Everything — seafood, barbecue, gourmet, chicken wings, hot dogs, Italian — you name it, it’ll probably be there.”
Tickets cost $15, and those attending get to sample food from all 26 vendors.
“It’s going to be a great day,” MainStreet DeLand Executive Director Jack Becker said. “It is my favorite event of the year. It’s light; it’s fun; the kids enjoy it.”
Entertainment will be provided by a disc jockey.
This year, the event has moved from East Indiana Avenue to West Indiana Avenue so patrons can enjoy Chess Park, and its facilities, including restrooms.
“No Porta-Potties this year,” Dixon quipped.
A Taste of DeLand will take place 1-4 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of West Indiana Avenue.
For more information, or to purchase a ticket, call the MainStreet DeLand Association at 386-738-0649 or visit mainstreetdeland.org. Tickets will also be available at the gate starting at noon but, in the past, the line has been long to purchase tickets at the event.
Note: Tickets are for sale at The Beacon office, 110 W. New York Ave. in Downtown DeLand.
