A Monday-evening Deltona house fire at 2121 Arrowhead Drive is under investigation by the Deltona Fire Department’s Fire Loss Management Division and the State Fire Marshall’s Office.
City of Deltona firefighters arrived on scene at 6:16 p.m. to find flames coming through the roof, and flames visible from inside the structure.
Off-duty Deltona Fire Department Paramedic/Engineer Bryan Maples, who was in the area, arrived before fire rescue units, and was able to determine that the two occupants in the home had exited. Maples also started medically treating one of the occupants from the structure.
Sixteen Deltona firefighters utilized three engines and a rescue truck to fight the fire; and they held the fire to one room and its contents, and the attic area. There was smoke and high heat damage throughout the structure. It took firefighters approximately 40 minutes to bring the fire under control, and two hours to put the fire totally out.
The damage to the 1,800-square-foot home, and its contents, was estimated at $150.000.
There were no firefighter injuries. EVAC ambulance transported the patient to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, where she was later released.

Bryan Maples is head coach of Trinity Christian Academy's Baseball team. He was running practice when he looked up and saw the smoke. Several players and their families looked on as Coach quickly went into firefighter mode. We are very proud of his actions that day and grateful that he is our coach!
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Iglesias family as they try and recover from this horrible tragedy.
