Want to learn how to make political and social change?

So, Winchell, along with Stetson professors David Hill and Paul Lachelier, created “Politics 101,” a free, nonpartisan, one-day crash course on political campaigning.
“The goal of Politics 101 is to provide area students and citizens free education in the craft of making political and social change,” Hill said.
“With a budget of zero dollars our first year (we paid for drinks and certificates ourselves), we had over 100 citizens, elected officials, candidates, students and organizations here on campus to learn about political campaigning,” Winchell said.
For this second year, the conference will feature professional campaign consultants from firms throughout Florida.
Campaign operatives, political scholars and community leaders will also lead workshops throughout the day. Participants will learn the ins and outs of organizing a successful political campaign.
Politics 101 is scheduled 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, in the Carlton Union Building at Stetson University, 131 E. Minnesota Ave. The event is free and open to everyone. To register or get more information, visit http://www.stetson.edu/other/politics101/home.php
