Holy Week is a time when business as usual takes a holiday, or maybe more than one holiday. Some people will have Good Friday off, while others will be working.
State of Florida agencies will be open on Good Friday, March 29, but Volusia County government offices will be closed, and so will the city halls in DeBary and Deltona.
However, municipal offices in DeLand, Lake Helen, Orange City and Pierson will be open on that day.
The closing of county offices on Friday will affect some last-minute taxpayers. Property owners who have waited until the deadline to pay their 2012 ad valorem taxes and special assessments should be aware of the policy, said Volusia County Revenue Director Peggy Flomerfelt, because the normal March 31 deadlines falls on Sunday this year.
