On March 13, Florida Hospital-DeLand presented a $2,000 check to the West Volusia Police Athletic League (PAL) at its board meeting at the Sandhill Golf Course, 800 E. Euclid Ave. in DeLand.
The West Volusia PAL is a nonprofit, joint-venture between the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, the DeLand Police Department and the greater DeLand-area community. It provides quality athletic and educational activities for at-risk children in DeLand at low or no cost.
“The West Volusia PAL aims to provide young people with positive role models, help them build self-esteem and give them a safe place for activities,” said Nigel Hinds, Florida Hospital-DeLand chief financial officer.
“This is a mission that strongly aligns with Florida Hospital’s mission. That’s why Florida Hospital-DeLand has sponsored the West Volusia PAL and the good work they do within our community for the past three years.”
