Lauren Carmody elected president of the Orange County Bar’s Young Lawyers Section

Labor and Employment Litigation Attorney to Lead Organization of More Than 750 Lawyers from Throughout Central Florida
Lauren Carmody, an Orlando litigation attorney with Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell, was elected as President of the Orange County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section. She will begin her term in the summer of 2014. The legal organization is comprised of more than 750 attorneys practicing in a variety of areas of law throughout Central Florida.

Carmody concentrates her practice in the area of labor and employment litigation.. She also has experience litigating insurance coverage and bad faith, intellectual property and breach of warranty cases.
Carmody represents employers in the public and private sectors in cases involving claims of harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation, and violation of civil rights. She defends clients against claims of discrimination based on gender, age, ethnicity, religion and disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Carmody has also handled administrative claims for clients before the EEOC. She has particular experience in defending school boards and other educational institutions.
In 2010, 2011 and 2012, Carmody was listed in Florida Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” in the area of labor & employment. Florida Trend magazine also named her as a “Florida Legal Elite Up and Comer” in 2012.
Carmody also has experience handling intellectual property litigation and defending client’s intellectual property rights. She has defended clients in federal court against claims of trademark infringement, false designation of origin, false advertising and trademark dilution under the Lanham Act and claims under the Anti-cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act. As part of intellectual property litigation, Carmody has also defended clients against claims of unfair competition and deceptive and unfair trade practices. She also handles appellate matters for clients in both state and federal courts.
Carmody earned a juris doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. She joined Rumberger after participating in the firm’s Summer Associate Program.
