Pancreatic Cancer and Domestic Violence both use the purple ribbon to raise awareness for their causes.
Molly Phipps, a member of the PeaceMakers Quilt Group Inc. in New Smyrna Beach, on March 15, 2013, lost her valiant fight against pancreatic cancer and asked her family and friends to donate a symbolic comfort quilt she made to the Domestic Abuse Council of Volusia County.
The PeaceMakers Quilt Group recently presented the quilt to Lynn Kaiser Conrad of Domestic Abuse Council.
"The quilt is on display at the shelter as both a tribute to Phipps and as a symbol of empowerment for all who cross the shelter threshold," Conrad said.
PeaceMakers Quilt Group was formed in 2010 and has 68 members. The quilting group is known for their charitable and community work, donating handmade items from lap blankets to pillow cases to those is need.
