he Volusia County Sheriff's Office said a man was arrested in Seminole County after fleeing a deputy, crashing his car, and then hiding under a bridge.
Volusia County Deputy Eric Otte was on routine patrol on South U.S. Highway 17-92 in DeBary around 1:38 a.m. April 22 when he saw a white 2006 Pontiac whose tag light was not operating properly, he reported.
Otte also noticed the driver was not belted in. So, he got behind the vehicle, and turned on his cruiser's lights to stop the car. This was near the intersection of Fort Florida Road.
The driver, however, sped away southbound at a high rate of speed, toward the bridge over the St. Johns River, according to the Sheriff's Office.
After receiving a report the vehicle crashed on the Seminole County side of the bridge, backup deputies arrived from Volusia and Seminole counties. A Volusia County K9 unit began tracking from the vehicle.
Deputies found a man they later identified as 23-year-old Deontae Mobley in the woods under the nearby I-4 westbound overpass.
