UPDATE 3:15 P.M. MONDAY, APRIL 29 — Shooting victim Christopher Jemery died at the hospital today. The Sheriff's Office continues to look for his vehicle.
PREVIOUSLY REPORTED — A Deltona man shot Friday, April 26, remains hospitalized in critical condition today, Monday April 29, and the Volusia County Sheriff's Office continues its search for the victim's vehicle, a 2013 silver, four-door Nissan Altima.
Christopher Jemery, 25, was found in a wooded area of Sanford just after noon April 26. He had been shot.
"Because he was unconscious and had no identification, police didn’t know who he was," the Sheriff's Office reported.
The man was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Jemery was identified after his girlfriend went to his Deltona apartment late Friday afternoon to check on him, and found "obvious signs of a struggle inside the apartment on Belltower Avenue," but no Jemery.
She called the Sheriff's Office, and an investigation began. After deputies talked to the hospital and the Sanford Police Department, the man was identified as Jemery.
The Volusia County Major Case Unit has taken charge of the case, with Sanford police assisting.
Anyone who may see Jemery's vehicle, the 2013 silver, four-door Nissan Altima, last seen bearing Florida tag BPDW87, is asked to call the Volusia County Sheriff's Office at 386-736-5999, Sheriff's Office spokesman Gary Davidson said.
