Thirty-three years after utility workers found the body of a woman shot to death near Howard Street and Courtland Boulevard in Deltona, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office is still looking for leads.
The recently formed Volusia County Sheriff's Office cold-case squad has reopened one file each week. This week, it opened the file of 1980 homicide victim Pamela Sue Jones.
It took a week to identify Jones, who had been shot several times. The FBI matched Jones' fingerprints. She's believed to be from Muncie, Ind., but may have resided in Daytona Beach at the time of her death.
According to a news clipping the Sheriff's Office used in the "Unsolved Homicide" notice, Jones was blond and "heavyset," and 24 years old.
Anyone who might have information about Jones' death is asked to call Investigator Chuck Lee at 386-254-1535, or email to email@example.com.
