In honor of National Healthcare Volunteer Week which is April 21 to April 27, the five Florida Hospitals in Volusia and Flagler counties recognized the volunteers who donate their time and talents to the hospitals.
"This special week presents an opportunity to celebrate the everyday people who accomplish extraordinary things through service,” said Daryl Tol, Florida Hospital Volusia/Flagler CEO. “These community members are essential to the healthcare team as they give of their time freely and ask for nothing in return.”
On April 23, Florida Hospital Fish Memorial hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Tea at the hospital.
Florida Hospital Fish Memorial currently has more than 156 active volunteers assisting in many departments throughout the hospital. Last year, the volunteers at the Orange City hospital contributed more than 37,000 hours of service to patients, families and staff. On April 24, Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon for more than 300 volunteers at Oceanside Country Club, 75 N. Halifax Dr., Ormond Beach.
In its 45-year history, the Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center Auxiliary has donated nearly $4 million to the hospital, helping support patient services, equipment investments, nursing education and the construction of new facilities. On April 30, Florida Hospital Flagler hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon at Carrabba's Italian Grill, 160 Cypress Edge Dr., Palm Coast. More than 125 volunteers joined David Ottati, Florida Hospital Flagler CEO for lunch.
Florida Hospital Flagler currently has 300 volunteers assisting in 25 departments throughout the hospital. Last year, the volunteers at the Palm Coast hospital contributed nearly 55,000 hours of service to patients, families and staff. To date the volunteer Auxiliary has donated nearly 1.5 million hours.
