The Stetson women's basketball team has been selected as one of 16 teams to compete in the 2013 Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament.
While the official bracket with opponents, dates and times will not be announced until next month, the Hatters will play a guaranteed three games, beginning with a first-round contest Nov. 8. All games are hosted by participating schools.
"We are really excited and honored to be one of 16 teams in the nation to be selected for the Preseason WNIT," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said. "It is the first time that Stetson has been chosen to play, and I am very appreciative of Renee Carlson and the WNIT staff for this opportunity."
The 2013 Preseason WNIT field will feature Georgia State, Gonzaga, Idaho, IPFW, Louisville, Loyola Chicago, LSU, Mount St. Mary's, North Carolina A&T, Oklahoma, Quinnipiac, Saint Joseph's, Stephen F. Austin, Stetson, Tennessee-Martin and Wichita State. Ten of the 16 teams are coming off NCAA tournament appearances, including the Hatters (24-9 in 2012-13).
