Changes for the summer
Beginning Sunday, June 2, Glenwood Presbyterian Church worship services will change for the summer months. Sunday school will be 9-10 a.m. for all classes, with fellowship time 10-10:20 a.m. The worship service will be 10:30-11:30 a.m.
The first Friday of each month, beginning June 7, the Barnes building will be open 7-9 p.m. for Game Night. Everyone from the very young to the young at heart is invited to come and join in board games, cards, puzzles or dominoes. Board games are available, or you can bring your own favorites. There will usually be some type of refreshments available. This is an opportunity to get away from the television set and enjoy some old-fashioned fun and fellowship. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Retired Bishop John W. Howe to speak
The Episcopal Church of the Holy Presence in DeLand welcomes retired Bishop of Central Florida John W. Howe, who will be leading the free workshop “Anointed by the Holy Spirit.” This workshop will be 7-9 p.m. Friday, June 7, and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, June 8.
At the 10 a.m. worship service Sunday, June 9, Bishop Howe will preach on “The Church That Changes the World.”
Everyone is invited to attend.
The ECW Deanery Meeting will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 15. All women are invited to attend. The regular ECW meeting, followed by Daughters of the King, will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 18.

Christian music concert
Brad Yates and Friends will perform an original Christian music concert at 6 p.m. Father’s Day, Sunday, June 16, at Salty Church, 221 Vining Court in Ormond Beach.
A freewill offering will be collected.
Stefany Fain honored
First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of DeLand honored Stefany Fain during worship service Sunday, May 26. She is a graduating senior from University High School in Orange City, and has been a volunteer with the church’s youth program.
Pastor Art Bakewell will be serving at the 8:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. services Sunday, June 2. An emergency offering will be taken at both services to help members of the church family.
Rainbow Child Care Center, a ministry of the church, will have the VPK graduation ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday, May 31, with Director Kathy Porr presiding. Music teacher Doris Estavillo will lead the children in celebratory music. A reception for the children and parents will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
Tickets are being sold for $5 for the Father/Child Dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 15, in the Fellowship Hall.
Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in DeLand has scheduled its annual Church Picnic Sunday, June 2, at DeLeon Springs State Park in DeLeon Springs.
A church service will be held in the picnic pavilion beginning at 9 a.m., with a regular service also held at the church beginning at 11 a.m. It is suggested that you arrive early at the park, as parking capacity fills up quickly. If anyone needs assistance getting to the park, call the church office at 386-734-2791.
The jazz band Jazz Express will perform for the Father/Son Banquet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 6, in Fellowship Hall at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church. A lasagna dinner will be prepared by the women of the church.
The first Friday of every month is Faith Lutheran Day at the DeLand Pizza Hut on North Woodland Boulevard. On June 7, all day, including pickup orders, 20 percent of all designated sales will be donated to the children’s fund at Faith Lutheran. You must submit a coupon when ordering. Coupons are always available at the church office or on the church website at www.faithlutherandeland.org.
Saturday, June 8, is the date of the monthly Fellowship Prayer Breakfast at 8 a.m. Everybody is welcome to enjoy a delicious meal and participate in lively discussion.
On Tuesday, June 11, the “Let’s Break Bread Together” ministry will host Interfaith Kitchen at First United Methodist Church of DeLand. Volunteers are always welcome. Arrive at 5 p.m. to serve meals to the homeless and needy beginning at 5:45 p.m. Call the church office at 386-734-2791 for additional information.
At 7 p.m. Friday, June 14, the clown group Fools for Christ will return for another fantastic
performance at the church. This lively youth clowning troupe is from Messiah Lutheran Church in North Fort Myers, and they perform yearly at Faith. Don’t miss them.
Vacation Bible School approaches
School is almost over, and summer is almost here, which means it’s nearly time for Vacation Bible School at First Presbyterian Church of DeBary!
The theme this year is “Kingdom Rock,” and the school runs 9 a.m.-noon Monday-Friday, June 24-28, for children age 4 through fifth grade.
