Let there be tailgating.
With the arrival of college football in DeLand in August, tailgating will come, but it's going to be regulated.
Stetson University asked the City of DeLand to allow pregame festivities in seven city-owned lots in the vicinity of Spec Martin Memorial Stadium in Earl Brown Park, where Stetson will play its home games starting Aug. 31.
The university will sell tailgating tickets and, with those tickets, hand out a list of rules. If the rules are violated, the party will be kicked out of the lot.
The rules include:
• No underage drinking
• The lots will open four hours before the game; no early admission
• The party has to end 15 minutes before kickoff
• Music must be kept at a level that's respectful to other tailgaters
• No glass bottles
• No taking booze outside of the designated area (that includes sneaking it into the stadium)
