Ryan Messiner, DO, has been appointed to the medical staff of Florida Hospital Fish Memorial. Dr. Messiner is board-certified in vascular surgery and general surgery and will join the staff on July 15.
Vascular surgery is the division of medicine specializing in treating the blood vessels of the body, with the exception of the vessels of the heart. Vascular surgeons may work to restore blood flow to an area of the body after trauma, disease or other issues damage blood vessels.
Dr. Messiner received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville, and his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Medicine in Fort Lauderdale. Dr. Messiner holds a certificate in Interventional Radiology from Penn State.
After completing an internship and surgical residency at the University of Florida, Dr. Messiner received a prestigious fellowship in vascular surgery from the Milton S. Hershey College of Medicine at Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Messiner’s interests in vascular surgery are abdominal aortic and peripheral aneurysms (AAA), peripheral arterial disease (PAD), carotid artery disease, vascular access and varicose vein disease.
Most recently, Dr. Messiner was an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at The University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine in Tulsa.
He is accepting new patients and most insurance plans. His new office is The Vein & Vascular Center of North Orlando, located at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, Summit Building, 1061 Medical Center Drive, Suite 102, Orange City, and can be reached at (386) 917-7315.
Dr. Messiner’s arrival to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial comes on the heels of a recent hire of vascular navigator, Michelle Keith. In this role, Keith is responsible for facilitating teamwork between radiologists, cardiologists and vascular surgeons and assists in the development of Florida Hospital Fish Memorial’s Vascular Center of Excellence.
