Downtown DeLand will be going tropical 6-9 p.m. Friday, July 19, for the annual Tropical Nights event.
Island music by the Tropical Hammer Steel Band will waft through the streets of Downtown DeLand, and many local merchants will be open late to offer specials on a variety of food and drink and merchandise.
There will be a hulahoop contest, a tropical-hat contest and, of course, the limbo — all in the 100 block of West Indiana Avenue.
Contest winners will receive Mainstreet Money, which can be used to purchase items from any of the Downtown DeLand merchants.
Admission to the event is free.
