Developer wants to put houses and stores on former DeLand Country Club land

A Seminole County company is envisioning shoppers and homeowners where golfers once swung their clubs.
Tailwinds Development Co., operating as Tailwinds DeLand LLC, wants to redevelop what used to be the DeLand Country Club, northeast of the intersection of South Woodland Boulevard and Orange Camp Road.
Attorney Mark Watts said the project envisions single-family homes on the eastern two-thirds of the property and commercial uses on the rest.
