Shiva A. Mathura, MD, has joined the medical staff of Florida Hospital Fish Memorial.
As a Family Medicine physician, Dr. Mathura specializes in preventive medicine, diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases, ambulatory medicine, as well as office procedures such as skin biopsies, joint injections, colposcopies and contraceptive intrauterine devices (IUDs).
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Human Biology, Health and Society from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in the West Indies. Additionally, he completed the Florida Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program in Orlando and is certified in the insertion and removal of the contraceptive Nexplanon implants.
Since July 2011, Dr. Mathura has volunteered at the Community After Hours Clinic at Florida Hospital. At this free walk-in clinic, he provided preventative and ambulatory care to uninsured patients.
Additionally, Dr. Mathura has provided both critical and acute care at the annual Disney marathons where he evaluated and treated runners for chest pain, heat stroke, dehydration, lacerations and musculoskeletal pain.
Prior to becoming a physician, Dr. Mathura serves as an Airman for the U.S. Air Force at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey, where he acted as a liaison between Airmen and Non-Commissioned Officers and facilitated the daily logistics of moving mission-essential material for both domestic and international missions.
He will be joining another Florida Hospital Fish Memorial family medicine physician, Nermeen N. Saleh, MD, in the office located at 1027 Town Center in Orange City. He is accepting new patients and most insurance plans and can be reached at (386) 456-1200.
