Area swim teams double dual meets recorded

The DeLand High School swimmers hosted Seabreeze and University in a double dual meet, with both Bulldog teams going 1 and 1.
The DeLand boys led by coach Fred Hoffmann defeated University 57-36 while dropping the meet to Seabreeze 57-36. The Lady Bulldogs topped University 83-11 while losing the contest with Seabreeze 55-38 while being coached by Jeanne Jendrzejewski. The University boys were stopped by the Sandcrabs 57-36, while Seabreeze topped the Lady Titans 77-17.
The Lady Bulldogs found Amber Brown winning the 200 free and 500 free, Victoria Frederico taking the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Breaststroke, and Megan Manning claiming the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke against University. Courtney Miller was victorious in the 100 free, and Corben Champoux got the win in the 50 free. Manning, C. Miller, Kelsey Miller and Frederico claimed victory in the 200 medley relay, followed by Champoux, Manning, Lindsay Fox and Frederico being first in the 200 free relay. Katrina Cicerello, Montana Lucier, Tessa Eckmann and Brown placed first in the 400 free relay.
In the Seabreeze ladies' meet, DeLand claimed only two firsts, with Frederico getting the only individual win in the 100 Breaststroke, and Manning, C. Miller, K. Miller and Frederico won the 200 medley relay.
The DeLand boys found Forest Froehlich winning the 200 IM and 100 Butterfly against Seabreeze, while Brendon Langford won the 100 Backstroke and Jordan Youell won the 100 Breaststroke. Langford, Youell, Froehlich and Ryan Ketchum claimed victory in the 200 medley relay, with Joseph Hennessey, Youell, Ketchum and Froehlich claiming the 200 free relay.
In the University meet, Froehlich won the 200 IM and 100 Fly, with Michael Morgan winning the 200 free, Ketchum winning the 50 free, Langford claiming the 100 free, and Youell getting first in the 100 Breaststroke. In relay action, the Bulldogs claimed two wins, with Langford, Youell, Froehlich and Ketchum going first in the 200 medley relay, with Hennessey, Youell, Ketchum and Froehlich placing first in the 200 free relay.
The DeLand squad returns to action Thursday, Sept. 19, when they travel to Matanzas at 4 p.m. This is a change in the schedule as Matanzas originally was to come to DeLand. The next home appearance for the Bulldogs will be Thursday, Oct. 3, when they play host to Mainland at the DeLand Family YMCA at 4 p.m.
