A crash Sept. 21 in Seminole County took the life of an 18-year-old Deltona man and caused serious injuries to his passenger from Orlando, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
Noel Padua was driving his Acura Integra on County Road 427 in Seminole County when he lost control as he tried to change lanes. The right side of Padua's car clipped the left front of a car driven by Vilma Orta Collado of Orlando, Trooper Elvin Gonzalez said.
It was unclear whether Padua was wearing his seat belt, the trooper said in his report.
After striking the other car, Padua's vehicle traveled on the north shoulder before hitting a fence, a utility-pole guy wire and a large water main inside the rear parking area for Flea World.
Padua was thrown from his vehicle as it flipped before coming to rest upside-down on top of the water main, the trooper said.
Padua was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 22-year-old Luis Diaz, who was using a seat belt, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, Gonzalez said.
However, an ORMC spokeswoman said on Sept. 23 that she could find no information about a patient by that name.
The crash remains under investigation.
