Volusia County sheriff's Deputy Stephanie LeClerc is on paid administrative leave while an internal investigation gets underway as a result of a DUI charge Saturday night, Oct. 19. She was arrested by the Sheriff's Office.
LeClerc also faces an additional charge of child neglect, because LeClerc had a 7-year-old child in the car with her, the Sheriff's Office reported.
"She was off-duty and operating her assigned patrol car at the time of her arrest," Sheriff's Office spokesman Gary Davidson said.
The arrest came after a witness called 911 and videotaped the car swerving over the line near Airport Road and Pioneer Trail in New Smyrna Beach, according to the Sheriff's Office.
LeClerc failed field sobriety tests and refused to take a breathalyzer, Davidson also confirmed.
LeClerc, 37, has worked for the Sheriff's Office since July 1999. She is assigned to Court Services at the Volusia County Courthouse Annex in Daytona Beach.
