Less than two weeks after two burglars targeted the Boost Mobile store at 2245 S. Woodland Blvd. in DeLand, a different pair of burglars broke in on Oct. 30, and took an unknown number of cellphones and related accessories.
"The individuals in this case are not the same ones that committed the previous burglary," DeLand police spokesman Sgt. Chris Estes said.
In both cases, the store alarm brought police to the store, earlier, on Oct. 18, then, this time at 4:08 a.m. Oct. 30, after a suspect used a hammer to break out glass in the front of the store. Then, a pair of burglars helped themselves to merchandise.
In the latest case, surveillance video showed two black male suspects, in their early 20s, who were wearing pants and long-sleeve shirts. They appeared to be wearing gloves. One suspect targeted display cases in the front of the store, while the other went to a metal cabinet in the back, and managed to pry it open, gathering several phones from the cabinet.
The men stuffed the loot into a black plastic trash bag and carried it out the back door, then got into a light-colored car, possibly a Chevrolet Impala, and took off in an unknown direction.
Anyone with any information about either burglary is asked to call Detective Iggy Jones at 386-626-7426 or to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-8477.
