A 10-year-old elementary-school student was injured at about 7:30 a.m. this morning, Nov. 5, on his way to school in Orange City.
Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes said the boy was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a collision with a Jaguar.
FHP reported the boy was on a bicycle traveling eastbound on the sidewalk on West Blue Springs Avenue.
Elizabeth Olmo, 48, of Orange CIty was in her car traveling westbound on West Blue Spring Avenue.
According to witnesses, the car made a left turn to travel southbound on Buford Avenue. As the car turned, the boy attempted to cross Buford Avenue.
The front of the boy's bicycle struck the right side of the car. He was wearing a bicycle helmet.
