DeLand High girl bowlers are district champs

District champs — The DeLand High School girls’ bowling team, under the direction of first-year coach Kathy Barnard, claims the 4A District 4 Florida High School Athletic Association bowling championship recently. The team members are Brandi Long, Amanda Hutchinson, Reilly Whitaker, Ellie Nompleggi, Brittany Hawkins, Michelle Harper, Marissa Rodrigues and Jaclyn Merrell. Harper placed first out of all the participants, with a 616-pin total in three games rolled. The team now travels to Orlando to compete in the state tournament.
