Lake Helen is a small community whose passions run high. Now, residents’ dander is up once again over the city-owned Creative Arts Cafe restaurant.
Should it close? Or, should it continue as either a city-operated venue or as a public-private partnership?
Many patrons think the cafe should continue to operate in some fashion. A petition drive started a couple of weeks ago, asking the city to keep the cafe open, netted more than 400 signatures by Nov. 19.
The cafe’s future is the subject of heated debate among members of the City Commission and other residents.
