The annual DeLand Christmas parade had 89 entries this year, each filled with the vitality of the parade theme, “Christmas ... Florida Style.” There were pink flamingos, boats and orange trees galore.
In the new tradition, for the second year, parade attendees served as the judges, voting online to choose the winners in six categories.
Nearly 750 people cast votes. There were ties in several categories, and in a couple of categories, the winner was determined by fewer than 10 votes.
The top three entries and honorable mentions are listed below. Additionally, the percentage of total votes earned by the first-place winners has been included.
Thank you to everyone who voted.
The Beacon extends congratulations and thanks to every person who participated as an entrant or as an attendee in this year’s parade. It was a fabulous event, and you are all what makes this town so special.
