Strong winds — possibly from a tornado — brought damage to the Deltona area early this morning, Sunday, Dec. 15, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office reported.
Fire, power and tree removal crews were called in after two reports of possible tornado touchdowns. Both calls came in to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office’s Communications Center at 6:42 a.m., reporting damage at two locations approximately 8 miles apart:
• Twin Lake Avenue/Cambay Street, Deltona
-Initial reports from residents include a tree on fire, a tree on a car and on a powerline and fence damage.
• 1199 Enterprise-Osteen Road, Enterprise
-Initial reports from residents include large tree limbs down in the road, causing Enterprise-Osteen Road to be shut down.
Strong winds caused damage in the Palm Coast area Saturday night, Dec. 14, as well.
No injuries have been reported.
The foul weather accompanied a cold front moving through the area. Today's weather will be cooler, with a high in the upper 60s and a low tonight in mid-40s.
