DELAND, Fla., January 14, 2014 – Florida Hospital DeLand has promoted James Gomez from medical staff services and regulatory compliance manager to director.
In this new role, Gomez oversees the hospital’s medical staff services, ensuring compliance with the Joint Commission and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) standards. Additionally, Gomez serves as the patient safety organization liaison and is responsible for maintaining systems to gather patient safety information and aggregate the findings in a protected environment. He also oversees clinical trials performed at Florida Hospital DeLand.
Gomez has been with Florida Hospital for 12 years and formerly served as a registered respiratory therapist.
A Deltona resident, Gomez is a West Volusia Leadership graduate and is certified as a Database Administrator and a Microsoft Certified Engineer. He is also certified in Lean Healthcare and is a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt; the Lean courses are designed to teach healthcare professionals how to stabilize, standardize and simplify patient care processes.
