Four dozen individuals have applied to be town clerk in Pierson, an agriculturally minded village of fewer than 2,000 people tucked in the northwest corner of Volusia County.
The Town Council has planned a workshop to winnow the applicants to a manageable number of finalists to interview. Also, council members set up a process for filling a vacancy on the Town Council.
Forty-one women — including former Deltona City Manager Faith Miller — and seven men sent their résumés by the Jan. 13 deadline for the clerk job.
