A knife-wielding man robbed a Seville convenience store early April 28 before getting away with an undetermined amount of money, authorities said.
According to a clerk at the Kangaroo Express on North U.S. Highway 17, he was working in a refrigeration room when a man armed with a knife came into the room with him around 3:30 a..m. The intruder demanded cash from the register and walked the 19-year-old clerk to the front counter, said Volusia County Sheriff’s spokesman Brandon Haught.
“When the clerk opened the register, the suspect grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash and then ran outside,” Haught said.
Patrol deputies, including a K-9 unit, and the Sheriff’s Office helicopter searched for the suspect to no avail, Haught said.
The suspect is described as a white man last seen wearing a dark-colored baseball cap, black T-shirt, blue jeans and something covering his face.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 386-943-78766 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS. Residents can also text a tip by texting “TIP231 plus the message” to CRIMES.
Tipsters who provide information to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
