Florida Hospital DeLand’s emergency medicine physician practice, Ormond Beach-based Emergency Medicine Professionals, P.A. (EMPros), has donated $10,000 to the hospital’s emergency department.
“We are so thankful for the outpouring of support from EMPros,” said Beth Hooks, Florida Hospital DeLand emergency department director. “With these funds, we’ll be able to purchase televisions for each of the patient rooms in our ER, enhancing the overall experience for our patients.”
EMPros has served as a contract partner with Florida Hospital DeLand for 37 years. The local emergency medicine physician practice employs approximately 40 board certified emergency physicians to staff the emergency department.
This comes on the heels of the completion of the hospital’s $1.7 million emergency department construction project that expanded the number of beds from 23 to 28.
In addition to adding five beds to the emergency department, the renovations also walled-in most of the patient rooms, eliminating many of the privacy curtains. During the construction, the hospital also upgraded the emergency department’s room amenities, including flooring, ceiling tiles and cabinetry, as well as added a children’s area to the lobby.
