Baseballers heading to World Series; seeking donations
posted Jul 24, 2014 - 2:13:45pm
The West Volusia Youth Baseball 13U All Star Team traveled July 18 to Sebring to play in the Dixie Junior Boys State Tournament. They went undefeated, and won the state championship! They will now go on to the Dixie Junior Boys World Series Friday, Aug. 1, in Bossier City, Louisiana.
These 12 boys and their families collectively put in more than 400 hours of fundraising in a six-week time span to make the state tournament. All the funds they earned went to the cost of uniforms, and hotel, traveling and meal expenses.
Unfortunately, there is only a very short time for fundraising for the World Series. The boys and their coaches will be driving and doubling up on rooms and cars to cut down on the cost, but it’s going to be expensive.
The team manager, coaches and kids would greatly appreciate community support in helping make these 12 incredible boys dreams come true of playing in a world-series tournament.
West Volusia Youth Baseball is a nonprofit 501 (c3) organization #59-310680. It is run entirely by volunteers. All donations from businesses are tax deductible. To help, call team mom Kelley Daly at 386-747-5225 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
