Candidates for local, county and state office had a chance to meet and greet voters during the DeLand Area Chamber of Commerce’s Hob Nob 2018 at Chess Park in Downtown DeLand.
The event provided prospective politicians a chance to get their message to voters face-to-face, two weeks before the Aug. 28 primary election.
The Hob Nob took place in the shadow of the Volusia County Historic Courthouse, which houses the Volusia County Department of Elections.
Voters and candidates alike also got a possible preview of the election’s outcome, as they cast ballots in a straw poll, which were tallied with the use of an actual Department of Elections voting machine. <img class="wp-image-5807 size-large" src="https://www.beacononlinenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/dcff5472764d9f32077990bda6456029-scaled.jpg" alt="
