“Far away, long ago, glowing dim as an ember, things my heart used to know, things it yearns to remember, and a song someone sings … once upon a[n October].”
Are the rumors true? Could she be the real Anastasiya? Will we ever know? Or, will it always be a mystery?
Join Preps Dance Company at the Athens Theatre in DeLand Oct. 27 and 28 as they present Anastasiya. Journey to St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1917, just after the Russian Revolution began.
There is a rumor that although the czar had not survived the revolution, one of his daughters may still be alive!
Has Princess Anastasiya escaped the evil hex the high priest Rasputin has put on the royal Romanovs? Has the Grand Duchess of the Russian royal family sought refuge in Paris?
A teenage orphan who is unaware of her royal heritage dimly remembers things her heart used to know — a song that played in a music box her Grandmama gave her.
She is confronted by a young man who believes she can pass as the real princess, and persuades her to go to Paris to be reunited with her Grandmama, the Grand Duchess of the Russian Romanovs.
Lyndsay Fuller, Preps Dance’s owner and director, described her production of Anastasiya as a dark twist on the Fox TV animated film and the Broadway hit musical.
“It is more closely intertwined with the historical facts surrounding the demise of the Romanov dynasty during the early 1900s. The show is full of beautiful music, dancing, and laughter that will take you back to songs you used to know. Anastasiya is a rumor, a legend and a mystery.”
Find out if the rumor and legend are true.
