Jacksonville-based VyStar Credit Union has opened its fifth Volusia County branch at 1517 N. Woodland Blvd. on DeLand’s north side.

VyStar officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new location Nov. 7, followed by other grand-opening festivities through Nov. 10.

The newest branch is VyStar’s 48th in the 22 Central and Northeast Florida counties in which members live or work, the company said in a news release.

“Our fifth branch in Volusia County, DeLand, is a proud symbol of VyStar’s commitment to further expansion into the southernmost counties we serve,” Brian Wolfburg, VyStar’s president and CEO, said in the news release. “We are excited and thankful for the warm welcome we received in DeLand, and we look forward to growing even more in the Central Florida area in the future.”

VyStar’s expansion south into Volusia County began in 2016 with two branch locations: Ormond Beach and Port Orange. VyStar’s third opened in Daytona Beach in November 2017 and was recently joined by the Orange City branch, which opened in September. In addition to their five full-service branch locations, VyStar has 46 ATMs conveniently located throughout Volusia County, with more planned to open by the end of 2018.

Bella Fuentes serves as vice president of the DeLand branch. Fuentes has worked in the DeLand community in the past and is extremely excited to be back, according to the news release. She brings more than 17 years of experience in the financial-services industry.

“It’s wonderful working for an organization that cares about their employees, because in return, the employees will take good care of their members,” she said in the news release.

Fuentes and her team are looking forward to serving local families and businesses in the West Volusia community, the news release said.

The design of the DeLand branch mirrors that of the other four Volusia County branches. It combines a fresh look with enhanced technology intended to increase efficiency and improve member experience.

The DeLand facility has four teller stations, five member-service offices, three drive-thru lanes, one drive-up ATM, and one walk-up ATM located in a protected vestibule with 24-hour access.

Lobby hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. Drive-thru hours are 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.

According to the company, VyStar Credit Union is the largest credit union headquartered in Northeast Florida. VyStar now serves more than 630,000 members, with assets totaling more than $8 billion.

VyStar membership is open to everyone who lives or works in Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Brevard, Clay, Columbia, Duval, Flagler, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lake, Levy, Marion, Nassau, Orange, Putnam, St. Johns, Seminole, Sumter, Suwannee, Union and Volusia counties.
