One of the most epic love-triangle operas ever staged, Tosca, comes to Peabody Auditorium (600 Auditorium Blvd. in Daytona Beach) at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, presented by the Daytona Beach Symphony Society.

Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca is a story about an epic love triangle among opera singer Floria Tosca, artist Mario Cavaradossi and the power-hungry chief of police Baron Scarpia.

Thrilling audiences for more than a century, the intensity of Puccini’s score and this tale of great passion, courage and devastating jealousy make this an unforgettable opera of frightening power.

The opera includes live music by a 40-piece all-American orchestra, several soloists who made their much-celebrated debut last season, and English supertitles.

There is a free Pre-Performance Talk, given by Dr. Earnest Murphy Jr., at 6 p.m. in the auditorium.

The 67th season will continue in 2019 with:

Shanghai Opera Symphony Orchestra at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27;

Cirque Musica Crescendo with the Jacksonville Symphony at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3;

Academy of St. Martin in the Fields at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22;

Swan Lake at 7 p.m. Friday, March 1; and

Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 31.

Single tickets costing $39-$69 can be purchased in person at the Peabody Auditorium box office, online at www. dbss.org or by calling Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000.
