Seventeen art students from Bryan Carson’s and Kristan Kinsella-Brinley’s classes at DeLand High School recently submitted artwork to the Northeast Florida Art Education Association’s Scholastic Art Awards competition in Jacksonville.
The students combined earned 10 Gold Key and seven Silver Key awards, along with 14 Honorable Mentions.
Caleigh Comly received one Gold Key, three Silver Keys and three Honorable Mentions, and won a scholarship to attend Jacksonville University. Her mediums included mixed media, painting, art portfolio, and drawing and illustration.
Claire Begalla won one Gold Key and one Honorable Mention in photography and digital art.
Olivia Begalla won a Gold Key in fashion.
Santiago Echeverry received an Honorable Mention in photography.
Lauren Fantone won an Honorable Mention in drawing and illustration.
Kathryn Hennessy received two Honorable Mentions in mixed media.
Alexander Jeter won an Honorable Mention in drawing and illustration.
Kasper Latchaw won two Gold Keys, one Silver Key and one Honorable Mention, all in painting.
Samantha Maki received an Honorable Mention in art portfolio.
Steve Marquez won two Gold Keys in drawing and illustration.
Sophia Moret received a Gold Key in drawing and illustration.
Mikayla Ransom won a Silver Key in drawing and illustration.
Kaylee Rice received an Honorable Mention in printmaking.
Daniel Smith received a Silver Key in photography.
Kalli Stam won a Gold Key and two Honorable Mentions, all in drawing and illustration.
Allison Teixeira received a Silver Key in photography.
And, Kristina Tosi received a Gold Key in photography.
