Back by popular demand on Friday, March 22, the Athens Theatre in DeLand brings Turnstiles, the ultimate tribute to the music of Billy Joel. And, with the Piano Man landing 42 songs on Billboard’s Hot 100 list over a span of 30 years, you’re sure to know almost every song in the concert.
As a young man, Turnstiles’ bandleader Tony Monaco became an inspired, lifelong fan of Billy Joel, and he used that inspiration to grow as a pianist, vocalist and songwriter. As a result, the Piano Man’s style has been forever imprinted on Tony’s musical soul.
After years of performing with various original projects and cover bands, Tony has enlisted some of the finest musicians in South Florida to join with him in paying tribute to the man he has so much respect and admiration for — Billy Joel.
Never intending to be an impersonator, Monaco’s focus is on the music and delivering a faithful and completely live Billy Joel experience to share with others. Turnstiles’ renditions of Billy’s hit songs are certain to move casual listeners as well as the hard-core Joel fans to their feet, and have them singing along with all the classics!
Five years into their journey, Turnstiles has performed for hundreds of thousands of fellow Billy Joel fans, leaving them overjoyed and screaming for more! And the best is yet to come as Turnstiles continues to spread the joy that only the timeless, classic music of Billy Joel can bring.
Come see these “Big Shot” “Entertainer(s),” and forget the “Pressure” you’re under all day.
Tony Monaco as the “Piano Man” and his five-piece band will put you in a “New York State of Mind,” and remind us all that “Only the Good Die Young.” “This Is the Time,” so come “Just the Way You Are” and bring your “Uptown Girl” to this top-notch Billy Joel tribute.
