Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc. (MMNA) has recognized RC Hill Mitsubishi in DeLand with the annual “Best in Class” award for Dealership Service Satisfaction (DSS) based on the brand’s Diamond Satisfaction System in 2018.

The award for Top Customer Satisfaction for dealership service recognizes the DeLand dealership as the brand’s top dealer in the nation for its continued focus on improving the service and maintenance experience for customers, according to a news release from the automaker.

“It’s a major accomplishment, for sure,” R.C. Hill III, the owner and president of the dealership, told The Beacon. (While he’s the only officer in the company, he said his wife, Mimi, is a partner.) “We’ve always been in the top five in the country, but to hit number one is an absolute thrill and a testament to the team. A lot of things have to go right.”

Hill is especially proud of providing excellent service after a sale.

“Most dealers don’t focus on that, but that has been my focus since I entered the industry in 2003,” he said. “It’s really where you make connections and build your reputation in the community.”

And Hill credits the service-department staff for making things work so well.

“I have an exceptionally trained staff,” he said. “The average tenure among them is seven years.”

Hill said his staff makes every effort to be respectful of customers’ time. Loaner cars are available if repairs or maintenance is going to take long, and the dealership has a VIP program to alert customers when servicing is due and allows them to make appointments.

The dealership also recently began giving customers coupons for free car washes, good at any of the three Sporty’s Car Washes in DeLand and Orange City, Hill said.

Along with being the country’s top Mitsubishi dealership for customer service, Hill said it’s also the number five dealer nationwide — and number one in Florida — in new-vehicle sales.

The Diamond Star Satisfaction program is a quarterly program that recognizes dealerships with the highest customer-service-experience scores in each of its four districts across the country, and the annual “Best in Class” award, which is presented to the year’s top dealer.
