Mark your calendars now for the seventh annual Art Among the Trees Juried Art, Craft and Music Festival 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, on the grounds of the historic Porter House, 5030 U.S. Highway 17 in DeLeon Springs.

Hosted by the DeLeon Springs Community Association Inc., this year’s festival will continue the tradition of being a fine-arts- and music-focused event.

As a juried event, there will be awards in several categories: $250 for Best of Show; $200 first-place art and first-place craft; $100 second-place art and second-place craft; and $25 third-place art and third-place craft, with ribbons in all categories.

In addition to fine art and crafts on show and for sale, there will be historic, nature and environmental exhibits, and live bluegrass, old-tyme and rock music on stage through the day, featuring The Moments, the Sandy Back Porch band and Wireless.

The delicious food-court grill will feature M&E BBQ, goody vendors, McInnis Elementary School student art, the Crankin A’s beautifully restored Model A car show, and a free Kidzone, which will include art projects and lots of fun activities.

Musicians will host a free music workshop for anyone who wants to bring an instrument and jam with the pros. There will also be a luthier (maker and repairer of stringed instruments) on-site, so dust off that old instrument, and let him bring it back to life!
