Looking for work? A new hospital offers new opportunities.

A Halifax Health hospital now under construction in Deltona is slated to open before the end of this year, and scores of employees will be needed.

Halifax Health, a nonprofit corporation headquartered in Daytona Beach, is developing a $150 million medical campus on Deltona’s north side, and the 96-bed hospital is the anchor facility.

“We’re planning to open about the first week in December, and we need to hire about 150 people,” Hospital Administrator Rafael Ramirez told The Beacon.

Ramirez said Halifax Health will host a job/career fair 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Central 28 Beer Company, 290 Springview Commerce Drive in DeBary. Types of jobs to be filled include nursing, technical, pharmaceutical and security.

The Deltona Halifax Health hospital is located at the interchange of Interstate 4 and Howland Boulevard. The hospital in Deltona began as a free-standing emergency department that opened in spring 2017. Ramirez said approximately 50 people now work at that emergency facility, which is open around the clock and can receive patients brought by helicopter.
