The West Volusia Regional Chamber of Commerce’s executive director is stepping down.
Shari Simmans, who has led the organization for about two years, is leaving Dec. 1, to become the voice of DeBary. Simmans will become the city’s first public-information officer.
“The PIO position is a position I’ve always wanted, and I was excited when they [DeBary City Council] put it in the budget,” she told The Beacon.
In her new career, Simmans will report to City Manager Carmen Rosamonda. She will leave the Chamber of Commerce Dec. 1, according to Rich Gailey, a member of the organization’s board of directors.
“We’ve begun our search for the next executive director,” Gailey said.
