At the Florida Tourism Forum in Panama City Beach in October, both the West Volusia Tourism Advertising Authority and its “sister” organization, the New Smyrna Beach Area Visitors Bureau, won Flagler Awards in the Sustainable Tourism Marketing category.
New Smyrna Beach took home the Henry (first place) for its “Tourism Touches You” Campaign, and WVTAA was awarded the Bronze (third place) for its Wings of the West Mural Trail.
West Volusia Executive Director Georgia Turner offered congratulations to Debbie Meihls and her staff in New Smyrna Beach, as well as the team at WVTAA, Benedict Advertising and Artist-in-Residence Erica Group for all of the hard work on the Wings of the West.
The Flagler Awards are an annual statewide competition recognizing outstanding Florida tourism marketing.
The program was created by VISIT FLORIDA to honor individuals and organizations that help position Florida as the top travel destination in the world.
Each year, the Flagler Awards pay tribute to the determined efforts of those who use their skill, resourcefulness, creativity and innovative spirit to market Florida to the world, Turner said. Awards are presented in 18 categories.
