The Pure Zeppelin Experience — the leading Led Zeppelin tribute show in the Southeast — will bring all the musical majesty of Great Britain’s rock ’n’ roll titans to the Athens Theatre in DeLand at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20.

“Years ago in days of old, when magic filled the air …,” Rolling Stone magazine described Led Zeppelin as “the heaviest band of all time,” “the biggest band of the Seventies,” and “unquestionably one of the most enduring bands in rock history.”

Guitarist Jimmy Page summed up his band as “Power. Mystery. And the Hammer of the Gods.”

The hammer has been passed to The Pure Zeppelin Experience, a Florida-based tribute band that reproduces the madness and the majesty of a full Zeppelin concert. These are veteran musicians who’ve sold their souls for a one-way trip on the Stairway to Heaven. They’re gonna make you sweat, gonna make you groove.

Keith Reynaldo has Page’s heavy riffing and lean, sinewy, lead style in his blood — and an arsenal of guitars to make his point.

As John Paul Jones, Gary Bivona is PZE’s utility man, handling Jones’ complex basslines and all keyboard instruments.

Gary Renshaw channels John Bonham with his pulverizing, no-holds-barred “bonzo” drumming.

The band’s lead singer, Michael “Spaz” McGoorty, has a stage presence and multi-octave voice that make him the heir apparent to Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant.

From “Dazed and Confused” and “Ramble On,” to “Over the Hills and Far Away” and “Kashmir,” The Pure Zeppelin Experience is the musical, physical and spiritual manifestation of the great Led Zeppelin. Their explosive, full-immersion show, augmented by a full laser-light production, goes for the deep, deep cuts, as well as the more well-known Zeppelin numbers.

The Pure Zeppelin Experience will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at the historic Athens Theatre, 124 N. Florida Ave. in Downtown DeLand.

Ticket prices are $35 for preferred reserved seating (first six rows orchestra, and two rows center balcony), and $30 for general reserved seating. A $3-per-ticket processing charge and 6.5-percent sales tax will be added to each purchase.

All tickets will be available online at the Athens Theatre website at www.AthensDeLand.com or by calling the box office at 386-736-1500. Box-office hours are 1-5 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, and 1 1/2 hours before live performances.
